The Challenge
The client was a leading IT company and producer of software for medical devices. We were approached in regard to a project containing highly technical, confidential documents to be presented to an Indonesian audience.
Due to the nature of the documents, trusted and experienced linguists with suitable technical background were needed to ensure accuracy. Moreover, the project would require the use of their own localization tools, which had never before been used for Indonesian languages.
The Solution
Indonesian projects are not foreign to us. Given our years of experience in the management of Indonesian projects, we have assembled a large network of native Indonesian linguists with various backgrounds ranging from general subjects such as marketing and finance to more technical subjects such as computers and even chemistry and biology. This time, however, it was different. We immediately saw that it would be almost impossible to find a candidate with knowledge of the subject who could be trusted 100%, and who had experience in our customer's proprietary tools.
It is a policy at 1-Stop Translation to always hire linguists with diverse backgrounds and rich language experience in various fields.
Fortunately, one of our in-house Indonesian linguists with knowledge of medical equipment was able accept this difficult challenge. Because she was competent and reliable, we could send her to our client's company for training in the use of the software tool. She was asked to translate the sensitive material, and concurrently we outsourced the remaining parts of her translation in order to train other Indonesian linguists based in Indonesia. This way, we could not only meet all the requirements in using the client’s tool and protecting sensitive information but could also finish the entire project well under the original budget. We were able to do that by using translators in Indonesia after training them in the subject matter and tool usage through means of their native language.
